Following a stem cell transplant, direct contact between the patient and his/her donor is prohibited for a duration of 3 years to allow the patient time to recover and protect the anonymity of the donor.
However, during this time, the SABMR encourages unrelated stem cell recipients and donors to write each other letters which the SABMR would gladly pass on.
